With the holidays right around the corner sometimes we need some activities to get us in the holiday spirit. Here are some holiday type events around Tampa Bay include Santa, holiday boat parades and ice skating.

Tampa’s Downtown On Ice

Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park

Dates: Now – Jan. 5, 2014

Tampa’s only outdoor ice skating rink will be open for inexpensive fun until Jan 5. Admission to the rink at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park is $10 and includes a pair of skates and 90 minutes of skate time. The rink is open Monday through Sunday with special holiday hours (check website for details). If you don’t want to take advantage of the 90-minute skate time, there’s also the Lunch Time Skate where you just pay $7 for 30 minutes on the ice

Skating & Santa In St. Pete

Dates: Dec. 7 & 8, 12-15, & 18-23

Visit Santa in the Park and go “glice” skating on a simulated ice rink in North Straub Park. Both activities are from 6 to 9 p.m. Glace Skating is $5 for 30 minute sessions. Santa visits are free. Cameras allowed.

Tampa River Lights Festival 2013

Date: Saturday, December 14, 2013 from 6p-10pm

This year’s festival will feature games and activities for the kids, and live bands, food trucks, drinks, outdoor ice skating ($5-$10) and local entertainment for the kids at heart. Neon lights will bring the park to life! Entrance is absolutely free, but donations are encouraged. Show your support for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Tampa Bay.

St. Petersburg Illuminated Boat Parade


Date: Saturday, Dec. 14th

The Holiday Festival begins at 3:00pm with great live entertainment, plenty of food and drinks(including beer & wine), a variety of children’s activities and the FREE Illuminated Boat Parade at 6:00pm. The parade travels from Bayboro, passing in front of the Pier, near the shoreline in and around the Vinoy Basin and back out into Tampa Bay. Spa Beach and Vinoy Basin are recommended for best viewing. Grandstand seating available at Spa Beach for $10.

Twinkle In Tampa Bay

Channelside Boat Parade

Date: Saturday, Dec. 21 at 6:30pm

This Tampa Holiday Lighted Boat Parade takes place along the water at the by Davis Island, Harbour Island and the Channelside District. You will be able to see the parade along the a great stretch of land from Davis Island to Channelside near downtown Tampa. Channelside Bay Plaza is a great place to enjoy yourself before or after the parade. Parking is available at several public parking lots. Channelside offers a wide variety of restaurants from Hooters to Spiltsville and everything in between. Across the street from Channelside is a multi-level parking structure.
