FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say a Fort Lauderdale police officer fired at a suspect who then fled in a car before crashing into another vehicle.

Detective Keven Dupree said the officer was investigating a report of a suspicious person Tuesday morning when he fired his handgun at the suspect. He missed.

Dupree said the suspect fled the area in his car but got into a crash about 20 blocks away with another vehicle. That driver suffered non-life threatening injuries. The suspect tried to run but was caught by officers.

No charges have yet been filed, and the names of the shooting officer and the suspect have not been released.
