Gators beat writer for the Gainesville Sun Pat Dooley gave us the latest inside info on Will Muschamp’s departure from the University of Florida.

Dooley said it wasn’t just that Muschamp lost the South Carolina game but it was the way they lost it. Florida had no choice.

Despite the fact that AD Jeremy Foley hired Muschamp, Dooley said he’s still done a good job with the rest of the athletic department. However, Dooley said this next coaching hire is his biggest so far at UF.

People have been clambering for Dan Mullen to come back to Florida and Dooley said that Mullen wasn’t the most friendly guy in the world and didn’t have great relationships in Gainesville. Dooley did say from everything he’s heard, Mullen won’t be the next coach at Florida.

The bottom line with the next hire, Dooley told us, is to that it has to create buzz and you don’t do that with a coordinator.

Despite the popular names that have been thrown out, Dooley doesn’t see Rich Rodriguez or Jim Harbaugh coming to Gainesville. Also Jim McElwain from Colorado State is out because he has a $7.5 million buyout in his contract.
