Just 24 hours after the smoke cleared at One Buc Place, linebacker Jonathan Casillas and Mark Barron were sent packing, with Casillas going to the Patriots and Barron going to the Rams in exchange for 4th and 6th round picks.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network spoke with Booger and Ryan about the Barron deal, as well as deals the Buccaneers didn’t make. Rapoport told the guys that the deal for Barron was the best return they could’ve gotten for him, and that he had no problem with the Bucs making the trade since Lovie Smith’s defensive scheme isn’t a good fit for the former seventh overall pick.
As for other players rumored to be on the move, Rapoport said that he didn’t believe there was a lot of interest in Doug Martin because his value isn’t very high right now, and that it’s tough to trade guys like Vincent Jackson and Dashon Goldson because of their contracts.
