With camp opening for the Tampa Bay Lightning, the producers of Fan Interference wanted to talk hockey during this crowded sports time of year in the worst way. Expectations are high this year for the Bolts, as Steve Yzerman has built a balanced roster with young play makers being supplemented with veterans guys that can play a lot of different roles.

Executive producer Drake, technical producer Brooksie, and Greg Linnelli of game day uncensored broke down what they believe are the expectations are for the team this upcoming year. The key is going to be the continued growth of guys like Johnson, Palat, and Panik. Other young guys are going into camp fighting for spots. It’s decision time for this organization with the most notable player being Brett Connolly. Connolly was a guy who was a high draft pick who has not had a chance yet to establish himself as a guy that the Lightning can consistently give him top 6 time.

Another position that has been an issue for this franchise in terms of depth has been at goalie. From the moment the team won the cup in 2004, the team has been searching for someone to replace Khabibulin and it appears that Ben Bishop maybe that guy. Bishop turned in a Vezina worthy year last season until various injuries ended his season before the playoffs began. With Bishop back, the guys expect that he can at least keep up the level that he had earlier in hte year when he would carry the Lightning to victory.

Stay tuned throughout the year as we continue to bring our thoughts on the Lightning each and every week.
