For the singer, who’s had a rough time with love, the lyrics in “Diamonds” are more positive than past songs. She seems to embrace a healthier attitude toward love as opposed to the lustful side of things.

“So shine bright tonight you and I/We’re beautiful like diamonds in the sky/Eye to eye, so alive/We’re beautiful like diamonds in the sky/Shine bright like a diamond.”

This is not the first time the Barbadian singer has referenced diamonds in her work. In her hit “We Found Love,” the phrase “yellow diamonds in the light” made an appearance three times throughout the song.

Rihanna got creative on Twitter promoting the new single with an Instagram pic of a pair of hands both wearing diamond rings.

She also wanted to make sure fans know “Diamonds” is now available for download.

Rihanna’s 7th studio album is yet to be named and planned for release sometime in November. Following that, Rihanna will embark on her Diamonds World Tour.
