While in town promoting their upcoming single “Feel Again,” OneRepublic shared their thoughts on another artist’s new song. When CBS Local asked what the group thought of Kanye West’s track “Perfect B****” they had a lot to say.

“Wait. It’s called ‘Perfect B****?” guitar player Drew Brown asked.

Surprised at the song’s title guitarist Zach Filkins said, “She must be swooning,” before frontman Ryan Tedder jumped in.

“I saw the title of it on a music blog yesterday but I hadn’t heard it,” he recalled. “I remember I was on an airplane and I was like, ‘What is that?'”

Shortly after Kanye released the track he tweeted that the song was about Kim Kardashian. No stranger to writing songs about girls, OneRepublic explained that they have also written songs for the perfect women in their lives. In fact, Tedder admitted he wrote “Won’t Stop” off their first album about his wife.

“We’ve done those. I think you have to,” Tedder said. “Everybody [does]. It’s ingrained in you unless you’re in some Swedish death metal band. At some point you’re going to write a song [about a woman].”

Tedder further explained that many songs written by men are about the ladies in their lives.

“Most songs in general that any guy would sit down to write is one way or another about women,” he said. “It’s the most obvious dynamic. It all leads back to women.”

While he’s frequently written about women in his life, there is one thing that Tedder claims he hasn’t done.

“I have definitely never come up with a title as creative as ‘Perfect B****,'” he said. “I know he had to think really long and hard about that one. Now I’m going to hear the song. That’s the thing about Kanye that’s amazing, whether you love him or hate him, you just see the title and you’re like, ‘I have to see that!’ On his Watch the Throne record ‘N****s In Paris.’ I was like, ‘What’s that?'”

As far as their suggestions to Kanye for a second single, the band had one idea in mind.

“The follow up song is ‘Okay Skank,'” Tedder said.
