TAMPA, FL. (CBS Tampa) –  Former Rays outfielder Elijah Dukes was arrested early this morning on drug possession charges.

Dukes, 27, was arrested around 1 a.m. at Nebraska Avenue N and Norfolk Street E.  According to arrest records, Dukes faces charges of possession of marijuana less than 20 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with physical evidence and driving with a canceled, suspended, or revoked license.  His bond is set at $4,750.

Dukes was last in jail in March 2011 after being charged with aggravated battery on his pregnant ex-girlfriend.  Other past charges include assault, domestic violence and contempt of court.  In 2007, Dukes was accused of  impregnating a teen in foster care at a relative of Duke’s.  In 2010, he owed three women child support and alimony which totaled over $140,000.

Dukes played for the Rays in 2007 and last played with the Nationals in 2009.
