Explore underground caverns in the Withlacoochee State Forest where stalactites, stalagmites and other geological treasures are found. Look out for bats as you crawl through twisting caverns. Wear comfortable shoes, long pants and a long-sleeved shirt that you won’t mind getting dirty. Program involves walking and crawling. Bring a hat, flashlight, lunch and plenty of water. If the hike to Brooksville is too far from home and you like climbing, we have a closer idea. This family adventure idea is at Vertical Ventures Rock Climbing Gym in Tampa. It’s 6,000 sq. ft. of rock climbing excitement. Never climbed before? Don’t worry they offer introductory classes in which you and the kids can learn the basics. Vertical Ventures is open six days a week, Tuesday through Sunday. Rock Climbing hours are: Tuesday – Thursday from 12pm – 10pm. Friday there are two sessions, 12pm – 7pm and 8pm – 12am.
