Give the gift that brings the best rewards: your time … and your kids. Volunteering in the Tampa Bay area is easiest accomplished with an adult, and kids can never start too early. For children between the ages of 6 and 10, volunteering must typically be a family event. Tweens will find more opportunities available through their local schools and neighborhoods, while teenagers have nearly unlimited prospects. Start your search here, with the cream of Tampa’s volunteering crop.

Minimum Age to Volunteer: any age with adult supervision

Children of any age may volunteer to help soldiers by collecting items used in care packages. From playing cards to beef jerky, the littlest gifts make a huge difference in service members’ deployments. Raise funds, gather pre-approved household items, and involve their classmates and schools in their efforts with teacher and principal approval. Families that don’t want to, or just can’t, participate in the money-making side of the program may also volunteer to pack boxes, sort and pick up donations, and work on behind-the-scenes projects for Plant City.
