Tampa Bay is home to some of the most incredible artists and mind-blowing arts centers around, including museums, performance halls and theaters. Check out some of Tampa Bay’s best-loved arts centers and find the one that’s right for you.
Straz Center for the Performing Arts
1010 N.W.C. MacInnes Place
Tampa, FL 33602
(813) 222-1000
www.strazcenter.org

The Straz Center is Tampa’s largest performing arts hall and hosts Broadway musicals, operas, the Tampa Florida Orchestra, other music artists and even stand-up comics. Volunteer opportunities abound here. The Straz is almost always in need of ushers, retail volunteers to help in the shops, administrative volunteers and lounge hosts to welcome donors to member lounges before performances and during intermission. Volunteers are also needed for the Patel Conservatory, the on-site performing arts school, to help students get to and from classes; to monitor the backstage area during rehearsals or shows; and to help with administration and marketing tasks.

Tampa Theater
711 N. Franklin St.
Tampa, FL 33602
(813) 274-8286
www.tampatheatre.org

If you have a love for classic or independent films, the Tampa Theater could be your home away from home. Theater volunteers act as ushers, give the Balcony-to-Backstage tours, help out at outreach events and just lend a helping hand wherever it is needed. Some training is required for volunteers that give tours. But volunteers beware, for Fink, the Tampa Theater ghost, also roams the grounds late at night.

The Dali Museum
1 Dali Blvd.
St. Petersburg, FL 33701
(727) 823-3767
www.thedali.org

The Dali currently has over 225 volunteers ranging in age from 16 to 90. For most of the volunteer positions, you don’t even need a background in art. Volunteer opportunities at the Dali include guest relations, education, membership and marketing, promotion, operations, special events and more. Some training is required. Volunteers also get some perks for the service.

If you’re at least 16 years old, you will find a wealth of opportunities at the Museum of Fine Arts. If you want to share your love of art with the public, consider becoming a docent – a specially trained volunteer that leads tour groups during the day. Or perhaps your talents lie within community outreach, and you can help manage large crowds during festivals, fundraisers or other special events. Other volunteer opportunities include administrative volunteers, curatorial volunteers, family program volunteers and museum store volunteers.

The Palladium Theater
253 5th Ave. N.
St. Petersburg, FL 33701
(727) 302-6865
www.mypalladium.org

Want to see live shows for free? If so, become a volunteer at the Palladium. All year long, the Palladium hosts performances of every kind, including jazz, blues, classical, opera, theater and more. Volunteers are needed for both the main stage in Hough Hall and the smaller Side Door Cabaret. Volunteer positions are available for ushers, greeters, ticket takers and other positions that pop up on an as-needed basis. All you need is a smile and friendly personality to volunteer here.
