What started as a humble food truck has morphed into three bus-based locations and two full-fledged restaurants in the Tampa Bay area from Tampa to St. Petersburg. Its original location on Hillsborough Avenue is open 24 hours and customers can be seen waiting in line at any time of the day or night. These extremely flavorful tacos can be stuffed with a variety of fillings, including pollo verde (shredded chicken covered with tomatillo sauce), conchinita pibil (Mayan-style pork), tofu or even butternut squash. At $2.99 per taco, it’s a little pricier than some other places, but for the taste and quality, it is well worth the price.

TacoSon is more than just tacos. Its chips and salsa and savory tamales are some of the best around and are very popular with regulars. But if it’s tacos you want, you can get a great selection, including carne asada, puerco asado, chicken and beef tongue. If you’re a vegetarian, TacoSon might be your best bet for meatless tacos.
