Tampa Bay is a traveler’s paradise offering business people and tourists a wide variety of accommodations. For those who thrive on top-of-the-line amenities and location, there are plenty of choices. We’ve put together a list of some of the most beautiful hotels. All of the hotels offer a great combination of luxury and location.

Floridan
905 Florida Ave.
Tampa, FL 33602

Located in the heart of downtown Tampa, the Floridan was a weekend mecca during WWII for young soldiers and flyers-in-training at nearby MacDill Field. Its luxurious lobby and plush accommodations led to many a war-time romance. After the war, the Floridan began a long, slow decline that saw it sit vacant and become a magnet for pigeons and vagrants. That changed in the mid 2000s when developers bought it and began a painstaking restoration that paid off when it reopened to rave reviews during the 2012 Republican National Convention.

Vinoy  Hotel
50 5th Ave. N.E.
St. Petersburg, FL 33701
(727) 894-1000
www.westintampaharbourisland.com

Located on the fabulous beaches of Pinellas County, the Vinoy is a link to the days of one of Florida’s first big booms. During the Depression and early post-war years, the Vinoy was a winter playground for some of America’s most famous (and infamous) figures. Politicians, movie stars, baseball stars and gangsters at one time or another used the Vinoy as their private winter-time playground. Like so many other landmarks from the same era, the Vinoy faded away into a less-than-glorious role as a low-rent flophouse before movers and shakers in the public and private sectors decided it was a treasure worth saving. Today the “Pink Palace” is not only a reminder of glory days long gone, but a first-rate, modern hotel.
