The Kumon Math & Reading Center has four locations in the Tampa area for parents seeking some extra help for their children who may be struggling with their homework. Kumon”s trained and certified instructors helps to create an at-home study plan in addition to keeping a close eye on your child’s progress in the classroom. Classes at this particular location on West Kennedy Boulevard are on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 p.m. – 6 p.m. Kumon works with children who are even preschool and tailors instructions for every child’s need. Parents are encouraged to contact the company directly or request brochure through their website to discuss what their child may need.

Is your son or daughter always doing handstands or back flips, no matter how often you tell them not to? Well, Stars Gymnastics is a great environment for them to learn how to bend, twist, flip without getting hurt. Stars Gymnastics works with boys and girls of all levels who are at least 3 years old. Classes are available Monday – Thursday and are usually 45 minutes ($55/month), 60 minutes ($60/month) and 90 minutes ($80). Members are also expected to pay an annual registration fee of $60. Parents say their children really benefit from their time spent at gymnastics facility.

The Patel Conservatory, affiliated with the David A. Straz, Jr. Center for the Performing Arts, offers more than 100 classes in music, theater, and dance for students of all ages and experience. Their instructors are professionals active in their field and have themselves been educated at top-notch schools. The Patel Conservatory’s music programs include youth orchestras, jazz instruction, a rock school, pre-kindergarten classes, and more. Most classes are for groups, but private lessons are available if you feel your child needs special one-on-one attention. Private lessons are available for the piano, guitar, percussion, and more and begin at $122.50 a month for 30 minutes of instruction (general instruction is about half that price and are at least 1.5 hours in length). If you’d like to feel out the Patel Conservatory before making a commitment, they also offer free classes throughout the year for every age group. In some cases, students will be required to audition before being allowed to register. These auditions occur on specific dates and require a $15 fee, so check their website for details. Parents say the Patel Conservatory offers top-notch, professional instruction.
