The four-hour-long college entrance examinations, known as the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) and American College Test (ACT), can be a source of fear and frustration for high school teenagers that dream of enrolling in a college or university. Their duration, unfamiliarity and implications can make even the bravest mathletes tremble. If your teen suffers with test anxiety, there are plenty of ACT and SAT prep programs in the Tampa Bay area that are here to help.

Mary Wharton Schroeder is a private tutor with over 25 years of experience in education. She offers in-home test prep services for both the ACT and SAT. For the ACT, she offers tutoring in the English test and reading test, as well as understanding the ACT layout and presentation. For the SAT, she offers six different tutoring programs, including passage-based reading, sentence completions and identifying sentence errors. Some of Schroeder’s students report amazing achievements — an SAT score increase of 330 points, a perfect score of 800 on the reading portion of the SAT and an ACT reading score increase of 10 points, just to name a few.

Positive Achievement
3837 Northdale Blvd., Suite 134
Tampa, FL 33624
(813) 239-4751
www.positiveachievementlearning.com

Positive Achievement offers tutoring and seminars for both the ACT and SAT. If your child plans on taking the ACT, he or she can enroll in a small group seminar or request individual tutoring. Students who prefer to take the SAT have a few more options available to them. Since the SAT expects the test-taker to employ skills not taught in a classroom setting, students enrolled in individual tutoring or a seminar will be given a diagnostic test to identify in which areas the student needs to improve. From there, an individualized study plan is developed to help the student be prepared on test day.
