The Fabulous Sports Babe
The Fabulous Sports Babe became the first woman to host a national sports talk radio show when The Fabulous Sports Babe Show debuted on the ESPN Radio Network in 1994. For the next eight years, The Fabulous Sports Babe Show was heard by millions of listeners every weekday on over 300 radio stations nationwide. The Babe’s encyclopedic knowledge, sharp wit, and aggressive, controversial style wowed fans from coast to coast.
Her critically acclaimed daily TV show on ESPN2 enjoyed a loyal pop cult following. Twice nominated for the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Syndicated Personality of the Year (ok, so she lost to Rush and Howard) the Babe took home a Silver medal in radio’s prestigious New York Festival for Best Personality Network/Syndicated. Her book, The Babe In Boyland was a raucous jaunt of Babe-isms published by Harper-Collins.
She has been featured on the CBS Morning Show, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, Access Hollywood, the Bill O’Reilly Show, Last Call on NBC and has appeared numerous times on CNN, MSNBC, and FOX as a guest commentator. Print features on The Fabulous Sports Babe include Sports Illustrated, Newsweek, USA Today Weekend, and the New York Times, as well as countless newspapers nationwide.
The Babe was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent successful treatment, continuing to host her show every day during her treatment hoping to encourage other women facing a similar situation. She has now been cancer free for over 14 years.
The Babe decided a long vacation was in order and headed south to her Florida beach house, where she floated in her pool and hurled insults at the neighbors. At the neighbors’ insistence, she has gone back to work … she continues to have second thoughts about that decision.
THE BABE’S VIEW: “I think it’s so exciting that something like The Fan is finally happening in my hometown. And I’m really looking forward to my nightly show – everyone’s asleep so we get to do whatever we want!”
