Joe Flacco completed his sensational postseason run (11 TD’s, 0 interceptions) with a classic Joe Cool performance in Super Bowl XLVII. Flacco completed 22-of-33 passes for 287 yards with 3 TDs. He used his athleticism and size to avoid the rush and he put the ball where his receivers could catch it. Colin Kaepernick hit his stride for the 49ers in the second half. Kaepernick was excellent in a losing effort, throwing for 302 yards and a touchdown and also running for a score.

Kaepernick got the Niners close, but he was unable to lead TD drives at the end of the first half and at the end of the game. If he had gotten in on either occasion, the Niners likely would have won. Kaepernick was able to bounce back after struggling early, but he did not look as comfortable in the spotlight as Flacco did.

Vietnam Veterans' Bond Forged Again With Kidney DonationServing together in Vietnam, John Middaugh and Henry "Bill" Warner forged an Army-brothers bond they knew was profound and lasting.
