Victor Aguilar, mayor of San Pedro Huamelula, Mexico, “married” a crocodile in a grand ceremony, which included a gown for the scaly bride.

The marriage was actually symbolic, a 200-year-old superstitious tradition. The indigenous Chontal Maya people have practiced this tradition since 1789. It is believed that marrying the crocodile will bring a good harvest to the village, as well as help fishermen catch plenty of fish, shrimp and other seafood.

Good luck to the couple 🙂
