Netflix’s ‘Stranger Things’ Adds Sean Astin to Season 2

Stranger Things is one of the number one hits on Netflix this year and after speeding through season 1, everyone is patiently waiting for season 2. Today, sneak peaks from season 2 have been released and, to a major surprise, Sean Astin is going to be added to the series. Why is this amazing news? Astin is on of the child stars from The Goonies a classic 80’s movie that has a similar premises as Stranger Things.

Astin will play Bob Newby, a kind-hearted former nerd who went to high school with Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder) and Sheriff Hopper (David Harbour). Bob is now the manager of the Hawkins RadioShack. Astin’s ’80s and ’90s bona fides (The GooniesRudy) and Lord of the Rings stardom fit well with the Stranger Things aesthetic. Season 2 is currently in production for a 2017 debut. Read More
