Miami, Fort Lauderdale Airports Shutdown Temporarily

MIAMI (AP) — The Miami and Fort Lauderdale airports are temporarily closed because of a power outage has shut down the air traffic control center that monitors arriving and departing flights in the area.

Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen said Thursday that the agency stopped take offs and landings at Miami and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood international airports until the problem is resolved. She said it is unclear how many flights are affected.

The FAA website says the problem should be fixed by 12:45 p.m.
