KISSIMMEE, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say a Seminole County deputy shot and killed his girlfriend before turning the gun on himself.

Media outlets report that 40-year-old Daniel Carrero and 33-year-old Mistie Reynolds were found dead Friday evening in a vehicle behind a gas station near Kissimmee.

Seminole County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kim Cannaday says Carrero was a 16-year Sheriff’s Office veteran and was recently moved into the digital forensics unit.

Deputies say a clerk at the gas station found the couple and called authorities.

Authorities did not say what led to the shooting or whether Carrero’s department-issued weapon was used.
