Man Missing After Hiring Woman on Craigslist as Caregiver

WILLISTON, Tenn. (AP) — Authorities in Tennessee say a man who hired a woman as his caregiver on Craigslist is now missing.

Fayette County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Ricky Wilson tells media outlets that 59-year-old Ellis Vogt was reported missing from his Williston home by family members on Saturday night.

Wilson says Vogt’s family told officers that they hadn’t had any contact with Vogt since Friday night. They say Vogt suffered a stroke and is dependent on medications.

Investigators say Vogt advertised for a caregiver on Craigslist and an unidentified woman answered the ad.

Authorities say Vogt is believed to have hired the woman two weeks ago and that she is believed to be with him.

Vogt’s vehicle, a dark green van, is also missing.

Deputies say the disappearances are suspicious.
