Patrol Car Strikes, Kills Man Walking on Interstate 95

JUPITER, Fla. (AP) — The Florida Highway Patrol says a Jupiter police officer fatally struck a 40-year-old man who was crossing the southbound lanes of Interstate 95.

The crash happened early Sunday as 32-year-old Officer Andrew Borrows was heading home after finishing his shift for the Jupiter Police Department.

An incident report says Johnston Andrew Zuccala’s vehicle was later found parked on the shoulder of the road.

In a statement, Jupiter police offered condolences to Zuccala’s family and friends. The statement also said the agency sends thoughts and prayers to Burrows and his family.

The crash remains under investigation.
