Name Game: Tampa Waterfront Project Seeking an Identity

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — A development project on Tampa’s waterfront is still seeking a name.

The Tampa Bay Times (http://www.tampabay.com/news/business/realestate/the-plan-by-jeff-vinik-and-his-partners-to-reshape-tampa-still-lacks-one/2286503) reports that Strategic Property Partners have offered little insight into when they will come up with or announce a name for the $2 billion real estate development launched by Tampa Bay Lightning owner Jeff Vinik. Microsoft founder Bill Gates’ Cascade Investment firm is also part of the project.

Ali Glisson, vice president of marketing and communications at SPP, told the paper that the name will be dictated by the community it develops.

Beginning next month, $35 million of infrastructure and roadway construction will begin on the project in downtown Tampa. The construction will extend roads, widen sidewalks and add more on-street parking.
