Miami Police: 2 Dead, 7-Year-Old Injured in Shooting

MIAMI (AP) — Two adults have been killed and a 7-year-old boy has been injured in a shooting Miami Police are calling a “domestic situation.”

Police tell local media that officers responded Sunday afternoon to reports of shots fired at a Miami duplex. Responders found 36-year-old Ivy Abigail Torres dead at the scene. The suspected gunman, 55-year-old Roberto Alfonso Jr., sustained a gunshot wound that police believe was self-inflicted. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A 7-year-old child had sustained a gunshot wound and was transported to a hospital in stable condition.

The shooting, police say, was a “domestic situation.” The child is Torres’ son, but is not related to Alfonso.

The Florida Department of Children and Families is reviewing the case to determine who will take custody of the child.
