Man Dies After Losing Control of SUV While Texting

MIAMI (AP) — Miami police say 25-year-old man died after losing control of his vehicle and drifting into two palm trees while he was texting.

Spokeswoman Frederica Burden says that after hitting the trees, the Ford Explorer Maynor De Jesus Portobanco was driving went into the median of a highway early Thursday and flipped on top of another vehicle. The other driver received minor injuries.

Burden said in a news release that Portobanco died at the crash scene.

No further details were immediately available.
