Crews Find Body of Teen Who Got Tired While Swimming in Lake

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — Rescue crews found the body of a teenager who disappeared under water while swimming with friends in a Fort Lauderdale lake.

Authorities say the 16-year-old boy’s body was found early Thursday.

Deputy Fire Chief Timothy Heiser told local media that calls for help came in around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

He says the water in the lake behind a Fort Lauderdale fire station is “very murky.”

One of the teens told authorities his friend “got too tired” while swimming. The teen says his friend “wend down and didn’t come back up.”

No further details were immediately available.
