ROSTRAVER, Pa. (AP) — Federal agents are investigating a pipe bomb found in a western Pennsylvania garbage container by a woman who was scavenging.
Rostraver Township police Chief Greg Resetar tells the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review (http://bit.ly/254IsnX ) that agents from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the FBI helped the bomb squad from neighboring Allegheny County.
Resetar announced the discovery on Wednesday, though the bomb was actually found Sunday about 9:30 a.m.
Resetar says the bomb appeared to be a working device before it was neutralized by authorities.
The federal agents are continuing to investigate the source of the bomb and why it was built.
