If you’re anything like the average working American, working out is a priority that always seems to daunt on throughout the day. But why is it that exercising becomes such a trying task for many of us working Americans?
A common reason many people share for their inconsistency in exercise happens to be a lack of time. Between our vigorous weekly schedules and day-to-day life stresses, it’s no wonder that only 1 in 5 (21%) adults meet the 2008 Physical Activity Guidelines. (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2014). Make use of this week’s featured workout in the morning before work, at night before bed, or for a few extra moves at the gym.
In this week’s Work-out Of the Day we examine a time efficient core workout that can be completed under 10 minutes while burning 70-85 calories, no gym required!
Here’s how it works: For each exercise, do as many reps as you can in 45 seconds while using perfect form. To make certain that you are getting the best results, don’t let your abs relax at the bottom of those crunch motions!
o Pilates Side Planks (1x per side)
o Toe Touch Crunch
o Flutter Kicks
o Knee Tuck Crunches
o Shoulder Bridges
o Russian Twist
o Bicycle Kicks
As always, remember that a healthy diet and balanced nutrition are fundamental when defining core muscles and maintaining those washboard abs. If you need any more detail on the moves above, check out this list of 50 body-weight moves for visual explanations.
