The 4 | SUMMER Music Artists To HEAR

Music is a mind-altering magician. It has the power to make you smile. It has the nerve to make you cry. It can give you energy or take you to a far away place. And sometimes, it can make you sick because you definitely just heard that song like 2 minutes ago… blehhhh!

But no matter how many times you’ve heard that sun-tanned songbird sing about their summer-time love, you can’t help but tap your foot along with the infectious beat. This list was created in honor of that artist. Veronica, co-host of the Dave & Veronica morning show on QYK and co-host of 44 on the Town on CW44, and I teamed up to compile a list of The 4 artists that took the summer!

Take a listen before their gone for the summer!

Her debut single, Love Me Like You Mean It, scored her a historic top spot on the charts. She is only one of 11 females in country music history whose first release went number one. Her second single Dibs is reaching top 30, and it has only been released for four weeks. She was also recently featured in Rolling Stone. She has owned the country music scene this summer.

She’s already had a huge summer. Her debut single, Habits, may have only topped out at number three in the U.S., but it put her on the map. Her popularity skyrocketed with her second single Talking Body. She also co-wrote Ellie Goulding’s smash from the 50 Shades movie Love Me Like You Do. She has had a huge summer, and I think she’s just getting started.

With 4 singles currently rocking the airs waves, a spot on the 2015 iHeartRadio Music Festival lineup and a highly anticipated album on the way, there’s no doubt that The Weeknd is having an incredible summer. Though he may not be your typical summer-sunshine hit maker, his music leaves a mark. His vibey beats and sensual voice give me goosebumps every time. The Weeknd is my number 1 pick for artist to hear this summer.

Diplo has capitalized on the EDM insurgence in ways that no other DJ has. Sure, his hit list is endless with tracks like Express Yourself and Earthquake, but he has expanded his brand two-fold. 1. Diplo and his buddy Skrillex created a duo called Jack Ü, the name behind the popular hit Where are Ü Now featuring Justin Bieber. This collaboration has opened a whole new audience up to EDM. 2. Ever heard of Major Lazer? Yeah, well he doesn’t exist. Major Lazer is a character created by Diplo, Jillionaire and Walshy Fire. Major Lazer’s reggae/electro house sound has created hits like Lean OnOriginal Don and Powerful, just to name a few. Diplo has even produced a self-titled TV show for Major Lazer on Adult Swim. Rather than positioning himself among the DJ masses, Diplo has created a new category of DJ.
