(AUDIO) Scott Reynolds Of Pewter Report: Bucs Offense Is Holding Back

Scott Reynolds from Pewter Report joins The Booger and Ryan Show every Monday at 4:20pm to react to the weekend’s Bucs game. Monday Scott discussed the Bucs performance in their second preseason game against the Miami Dolphins.

Right now, Reynolds said that he doesn’t think the Bucs have two starting caliber guards and that spells trouble for the Bucs. If you look at the first two weeks, the Bucs have to play the Panthers and the Rams who arguably have the two best defensive lines in the NFL.

Reynolds said he wouldn’t be surprised if the Bucs tried to upgrade the guard position but right now it’s going to have to be an in-house solution for Week 1 against the Panthers.

Lovie Smith said it’s the defense’s job to take the ball away and set up the offense calling it “Buc ball.” Reynolds said you can absolutely expect this year’s team to rely on that mentality to win games.

Reynolds’ biggest disappointment so far this preseason has been Michael Johnson. When he’s on he can be a Pro Bowl player but he just hasn’t been on yet here in Tampa.

The offense has been very vanilla and Reynolds said that the team is holding back quite a bit. From watching OTA’s, training camp and practices Reynolds said that there are some explosive plays they aren’t showing off in the preseason yet.
