The 5 Greatest Pro Football Hall Of Fame Speeches
After seeing Derrick Brooks enshrined at Canton, we put our heads together to come up with the definitive list of the best Hall of Fame speeches ever. This was a tough battle, but we feel we’ve got the best of the best here for sure!
5 – Cris Carter
It took 6 long years of waiting, but Cris Carter had finally been inducted and recognized as one of the greatest WRs the game had ever known. Carter had tears in his eyes, when he took the podium, called it the greatest day of his life, but noted that it wouldn’t have been possible without his teammates…
4 – Deion Sanders
“Neon” Deion Sanders never lacked a flair for the dramatic, From gold chains, to colorful bandanas, Sanders was difficult not to notice – on the filed or off of it. What started out as an average speech, became one for the ages when Sanders began to talk about his “mama”. She was the driving force beihnd hsi success and there wouldn’t have been a “Prime Time” without her influence!
3 – Shannon Sharpe
The always loquacious, yet gritty Sharpe spoke of chasing his dreams, not expecting them to develop on their own. He emphasized dedication, discipline and determination but he also touched a nerve we all can relate to: family. From his brother Sterling, to his beloved grandmother – they all played a part in his becoming one of the all-time greats.
2 – Curtis Martin
Starting off his speech with some great stories about his teammates, Martin’s speech seemed to be lighter than your average Hall of Fame speech, but as it progressed you got to learn more about the man behind the facemaks. He spoke openely about his struggles with the game, his family life and then the inspiration Bill Parcell’s bestowed upon him. Truly one for the ages Martin’s speech is a must-see!
1. Derrick Brooks
He’s our favorite player, there’s no question. There’s also no question where Brooks comes from as a player and as a man. His speech was powerful, inspiring and left nothing out. We’re proud to be Bucs fans and even more proud to have Derrick Brooks join Warren Sapp and LeeRoy Selmon as representatives of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Canton!
