(AUDIO) The Buccaneers Ability On The Lines Could Shape Their Season
Coming up this Friday, The Buccaneers begin their season against a real live football team. Yes it’s preseason, but for the first time, it is a chance to hit someone else other than their teammates.
Roy Cummings from the Tampa tribune joined us to give us some insight on what we may see coming up Friday. One of the big things that we always want to see in these games is how much of the starters will play for significant time. Some of the guys we want to see will be some of the depth at wide receiver depth. Another position that is going to get a lot of attention tomorrow night will be the guard play, and how creative this team will have to be in the run game.
One thing that the team has been lucky to this point with has been injury concerns. To this point, Roy says that any of the guys who have missed time have been out with just small bumps and bruises, and the players have seen enough on the sidelines to grasp the concepts that the coaches are trying to teach.
One of the hot names coming in to camp has been Da’Quan Bowers and where his future could be. Roy noticed that when the first depth chart was released that Bowers was placed as the backup to Gerald McCoy. Perhaps that maybe something that can earn him a spot, but from what Cummings has seen, not much has changed in terms of effort when it comes to the play of Bowers. One of the big factors to this defense will be how quickly can this defensive line gel into a collective unit.
