State Inspector Finds Rats On Family Dollar Store Shelves

DELAND, Fla. (CBS Tampa) – A state inspector found rats on a Family Dollar store shelves and has ordered the store to stop selling food.

“It scares me now that I know I’ve ate there and there’s been rats in the food,” customer Kevi White told WKMG-TV.

The station reports that the State Department of Agriculture has banned the store from selling all consumable goods. An inspector was following up a complaint when he saw rodent droppings and a rat run across the floor.

Last year the store failed safety inspections twice, and had to be told to stop selling food three times, according to state records obtained by WKMG.

“Had I known, I wouldn’t have – even just buying cat food – I probably wouldn’t have continued to shop at this store,” shopper Belinda Loboda said.
