(AUDIO) Carl Nicks Absence at Training Camp is a Mystery

Bucs beat writer for the Tampa Tribune Roy Cummings joined Marc Ryan to tell us what he saw out of the Bucs as they reported to training camp Thursday.

Cummings said that Bucs GM Jason Licht wants us to stop talking about the offensive line but we can’t. The Bucs are only happy with 3 of their 5 starters and that’s an issue.

Carl Nicks didn’t show up for personal reasons and many are speculating. Cummings said it could be a sickness in the family or Nicks may even be contemplating retirement. At this point, Cummings said no one really knows.

Many call Josh McCown a game manager but Cummings said even Gerald McCoy noted Thursday morning that he’s better than people think. Cummings said that he’s more athletic then people give him credit for and even if he is a game manager, he’s going to have to make plays. Cummings said he rarely hears any NFL coach use the term game manager and despite the term, there are only 32 starting QB’s in the NFL and McCown is one of them.
