2 Sarasota Cops Save Baby Choking On Chicken Bone

SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) — An 11-month old baby is safe thanks to the quick actions of two Sarasota police officers.

Officers Dominic Harris and Steven Fergus were on patrol Wednesday when they noticed several women holding a baby upside down. They stopped and were told the baby was choking on chicken bone.

While Fergus called for help, Harris began performing the Heimlich maneuver on the baby to dislodge the bone.

Police say the baby started breathing but was still in distress.

The child was taken to the hospital and underwent surgery. Police say the infant is expected to make a full recovery.
