2 Dead, 1 Burned In St. Pete Hit-and-Run Crash

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — Two people are dead and a third has been taken to a hospital with severe burns after a hit-and-run crash in St. Petersburg.

Police say one vehicle was engulfed in flames and another was another was empty when they arrived at the crash scene around 3 a.m. Thursday.

Rescue crews were able to get a woman out of the burning vehicle. There was no word on her condition.

Police say the other two victims could not be rescued. They believe the other driver and any occupants of the vehicle fled on foot before police arrive.

An investigation is ongoing.
