Bitcoin New Title Sponsor For College Bowl

St. Petersburg, Fla. (CBS Tampa) – The St. Petersburg Bowl will get a new sponsor – BitPay.

Beginning this year, the bowl game will now be called the Bitcoin St. Petersburg Bowl.

“Our goal is to continue to move bitcoin into the mainstream and sponsoring the St. Petersburg Bowl offers us that opportunity,” Tony Gallippi, Executive chairman for BitPay said in a press release obtained by CBS Sports. “College football lfans and the bitcoin community represent a similar target demographic – tech-savvy men between the ages of 18 and 40.”

“We’re extremely excited to welcome BitPay to college football and our bowl home in St. Petersburg,” Brett Dulaney, Executive Director of the Bitcoin St. Petersburg Bowl, said in the press release. “We look forward to a long and mutually beneficial arrangement.

The first BitPay sponsored game will be played on Friday December 26, 2014 at Tropicana Field.  The game will be affiliated with the Atlantic Coast Conference and the American Athletic Conference.

Tickets start as low as $40 and they can be purchased with bitcoin.
