AUBURDALE, Fla. (CBS Tampa/AP) – A central Florida man waiting to be sentenced on charges stemming from a fatal hit-and-run crash died in another crash over the weekend.

The Florida Highway Patrol reports that 40-year-old Christopher John McCoy was driving west on Interstate 4 near Auburndale shortly after midnight Sunday when he rear-ended an SUV. His car spun off the road and flipped into a ditch. He was not wearing a seatbelt.

Earlier this month, McCoy pleaded no contest to leaving the scene of a car accident where a pedestrian was hit and killed, according to The Ledger. McCoy was facing up to 30 years in prison.
