(AUDIO) Christine Brennan Explains Why Michael Sam is the Most Important Football Player in America

USA Today’s Christine Brennan wrote that Michael Sam is the most important football player in the nation. She joined Booger and Rich to explain what she meant by that.

Brennan said that in terms of what he’s bringing to the conversation to our country, Sam has transcended sports from “The Kiss” the day he was drafted and even the issue of the state of Missouri’s laws that prohibit gay rights. Brennen even noted that his jersey is the second highest selling jersey from all rookies drafted behind Johnny Manziel’s.

Brennen said this is a major cultural issue and 100 years from now people will be studying the rise of gay rights and gay couples and this is a little piece of that history.

Brennen did say that if Sam didn’t get drafted, it could’ve been a PR nightmare for the NFL. She would be surprised if team’s didn’t want to draft him simply because he’s gay.
