We’re just hours away from the start of the 2014 NFL Draft and Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer has come out of nowhere to drop two bombs relating to the top 5 picks of this year’s draft.
Jay Glazer is regarded as one of the most accurate NFL reporters around. While some reporters will throw out anything they hear whether it’s right or wrong, Jay Glazer is rarely proven wrong and will not throw out a report unless he believes it is true.
Glazer started with the Browns pick at 4 late Tuesday afternoon.
The Browns have been long linked to Johnny Manziel by ESPN among others, but for a 1st time GM and 1st time head coach, the risk of Manziel might be just a bit too much for two men who have worked very hard to get their opportunities. It appears Browns’ owner Jimmy Haslam will not interfere with the pick, which means the Browns will likely go safer with the 4th overall pick.
Jay Glazer then laid the boom on Raider nation.
Again, there is always the possibility of a smokescreen, but Glazer typically doesn’t just float rumors around like other reporters. If their was ever going to be an accurate report related to the NFL draft, it would likely come from Glazer.
As for the Rams with the 2nd pick, head coach Jeff Fisher was pretty emphatic about who his starting quarterback is.
“Sam is our starter,” Jeff Fisher said on Tuesday. “The reason I took this job was because of our owner and because of Sam our quarterback. If the right guy is there to take in a backup role to Sam, then we’re going to make sure we’ve done our due diligence.
The draft might be aligning for Johnny Manziel to be available to the Bucs when they are on the clock, but will they take him?
We have heard that Manziel was on the Bucs “short list” of players they’d consider with the 7th overall pick. He also seems like a good fit in new offensive coordinator Jeff Tedford’s offense with his quick release, his accuracy, and his mobility. These are all traits the Bucs are currently looking for in their quarterback.
