Deputy: Man Wanted To Be Arrested So He Could Get Out Of The Rain

Fort Walton Beach, Fla. (CBS TAMPA) — A Florida man told an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s deputy that he deliberately violated a trespass order so he could be arrested and get out of the rain, according to the arrest report.

The man was allegedly harassing customers while standing outside of an AOC Foodmart on Racetrack Road. The store manager told the Okaloosa Sheriff’s deputy that she wanted a trespass warning issued to the man, who appeared intoxicated, NWF Daily News reports.

A deputy ordered the man away from the property, at which point the man confirmed that he understood the order to leave and not return.

However, an hour later the man did return to the store, and the manager told the sheriff’s office that she wanted him arrested, according to the NWF Daily News.

When the deputy asked the man why he returned to the store, the man responded that he wanted to go to jail simply to get out of the rain.

The man was charged with trespassing and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, April 22.
