The NBA Playoffs are upon us and contrary to what some might say; the Miami Heat are not the favorites this year. For LeBron James to live up to his proclamation of “Not 5, not 6 not 7” championships, he and his Heat better get 3 first. While the Heat are considered favorites by many, this will be their toughest road to a title yet.

The Big 3 will blow by the Bobcats in Round 1 (They are 15-0 vs Charlotte since James, Wade and Bosh joined forces), but things might get dicey in Round 2. There is an excellent chance that Miami will run into the 6th seeded Brooklyn Nets. Not sure if you knew this, but Brooklyn was 4-0 vs the Heat this year. Yes, you read that right. Now you can say that the regular season doesn’t matter and you might be right, but that stat should still be alarming for The Heatles. Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett know how to play the Heat and they ALWAYS step up in the Playoffs. Nobody has given King James more problems in his career than those two.

If Miami gets by Brooklyn, they will most likely face Indiana or Chicago in the Eastern Conference finals. Both the Bulls and the Pacers are big, physical teams that match up well with the smallish Heat front line. Indiana has been god awful as of late, but they always bring their A-game to South Beach. Chicago doesn’t have enough to take down Miami in my mind, but they can weaken them for The Finals in what would be a brutal street fight of a series.

The one thing that Miami has going for them if they reach The Finals is that they only have to play one team from The West. If the Heat were in The West, they would never get out. There are too many talented teams.

The Spurs are the best team in basketball.
The Thunder are the only team that can beat the Spurs.
The Clippers have the youth and athleticism that the Heat used to have.
The Rockets have the best big man in the game, which could be a match up nightmare for anybody.

No matter who Miami plays of these four, all of them have the ability to beat the Heat.

Can the Miami Heat Three-peat??? Yes
Will they??? The smart money says no.
