WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz says she’ll pay up over the University of Florida Gators’ 63-53 loss to UConn Huskies in the NCAA Final Four.
The South Fla. congresswoman and two-time UF graduate made a friendly wager on Saturday’s basketball game with U.S. Rep. Joe Courtney, who represents Connecticut and is a University of Connecticut Law School graduate.
Schultz promised platters from Gainesville’s Burrito Bros. Taco Co. She did not specify how she’d get the burritos to him.
Late Saturday, she congratulated Courtney on Twitter, calling the burritos her silver lining.
Schultz had joked No. 1 seed Florida was “one Husky road-kill away en route to their 3rd basketball championship.”
Courtney promised a basket of Connecticut treats including Cato Corner Cheese, Jarmoc cigars and Cottrell Beer if the Huskies won.
