(AUDIO) Ryan Hanigan: I’d Like Replay to Be a Little More Effecient

St. Petersburg, FL (98.7 The Fan) – Rays catcher Ryan Hanigan joined Rich and guest host Marc Ryan to discuss the Rays opening series against the Blue Jays and how he likes his new home in Tampa Bay.

Hanigan said so far the pitching staff has done well so far this season. He said he’s got some good arms to work with and everyone is settling in.

Hanigan said it’s huge to have a loose clubhouse. He said the coaches expect them to do their work and get better but they create a fun atmosphere. It helps with chemistry and helps shape a successful team. You have to enjoy yourselves out there Hanigan said.

Chris Archer had a strong outing Thursday night and Hanigan said he gets frustrated when he wastes pitches but he likes that about Archer. He has a strong arm and has “nasty stuff.”

Hanigan said he’s a little torn on the new replay system. It’s important to get the calls right but the flow of the game does get interrupted. He said it happened last night with Heath Bell who was warm and ready to go and got cold during a delay because of replay.

Finally Hanigan said Joe Maddon is great. “He’s very insightful and is just on point with everything he does. He’s a cool dude and very personable and helps create an atmosphere that everyone has bought into.”
