For the last couple weeks, Fan Interference wanted to know who is Tampa Bay’s favorite sports media member. 32 started this journey, and now 4 remain.
In the radio region, Jim Lighthall won his first round match up against heavyweights in the field of radio play by play in dramatic fashion pulling off a late comeback. Then, he followed that up by defeated the morning show how Kirk McEwen. Jim has done this all without the help of any sort of social media presence, which has been the undoing of many a competitor in this tournament. Jim now moves on to take on Steve White.
Steve White has really embraced this competition and has used a groundswell of support on twitter to rally his troops to get him here. Steve took down athletes like Booger McFarland and Chris Dingman in the first round of the athletes in sports, followed by Chris Field in the mainstream regional final.
In the second match up, Erik Erlendsson has been pretty dominant thus far in the tourney making easy work of both the newspaper region, following it up with a convincing win against Mark Cook in the print regional final. Erik has also embraced the event as well using his twitter following to move on.
The feel good story of the tournament is Bright House’s own, Rock Riley. There may not be a nicer guy in media that there is to work with then Rock. Rock moved on through the TV broadcaster match up, followed by taking down Rick Peckham in the TV regional final.
