(AUDIO) Chris Archer Will Use His New Contract to Make His Parents Debt Free

The Rays signed Chris Archer to a 6 year extension worth $25 million dollars today and the starter joined Booger and Rich to discuss his new contract.

Archer said that the new contract took a few weeks to sort out, but it wasn’t a stressful process at all. His agent educated him on the market for a pitcher like him and the two sides compromised on a deal that benefits both parties. Archer said it’s hard to say no to a deal like that.

Archer said the organization’s eye on the future definitely played a role in him signing the new deal. The organization let’s the players be themselves and Archer told Booger and Rich that he’s always been encouraged to be him. He said he hopes to be a member of the Rays for the rest of his career.

Many athletes burn out after receiving a big contract but Archer said that money won’t change the way he plays. To him, there’s no value in the money and he doesn’t see a ceiling for himself.

So what will Chris Archer do with all his money? He said mission number one will be to make his parents debt free.
