Kaufman said when McCown came to visit, he has other visits scheduled. Kaufman said he thinks the Bucs told him he’s the starter to make sure he didn’t leave the building without a deal. He thinks Lovie Smith won’t put a big emphasis on QB play and he expects the team to go back to old Buc ball.

After Mike Williams was stabbed in the leg by his brother and Kaufman said that Jason Licht made it clear that he doesn’t want to see his name in the headlines. To Kaufman, this may have been his last chance. Kaufman said any salary cap hit wouldn’t stop Lovie Smith from cutting him.
