Police Officer On Paid Leave After Accused Of Trying To Solicit Teenage Boys On Facebook

BUNNELL, Fla. (CBS Tampa) – The Florida Department of Law Enforcement say a Bunnell police officer has been placed on paid leave after he has been accused of trying to solicit boys online for sex.

Authorities say that Cpl. Michael Stavris posed as a 16-year-old girl on Facebook and used his fake account to solicit teenage boys for sex.

After the conversation turned sexual, Stavris requested sexual photos of the victim,” Samantha Andrews with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement told WFTV-TV.

The investigation against Stavris began back in December. He was arrested Tuesday night.

Authorities believe Stavris was collecting photos of the boys between June and October 2013.

The investigation is not over. Anyone with additional information is asked to please contact the Jacksonville Regional Operations Center at 904-360-7111
