LONDON (CBS Tampa) – While NASA spends millions of dollars looking for signs of life on Mars and Europa, there is one man who says the space agency can save its money.

William Shatner, best known for playing the space-trotting Captain Kirk, tells The Daily Mail he is certain that there is life in the universe, maybe not as we know it.

The Star Trek star says alien life is a mathematical certainty because space is so large.

“I don’t think there is any doubt there is life in the universe, yes. I don’t think there is any question,” he said.

He cited the discovery of hundreds of extrasolar planets as evidence.
